Cultural Cooperation with the WB for competitive cultural and creative industries

Culture and creative industries have the power to improve lives, transform communities, generate jobs and growth, and create spillover effects in other economic sectors. The EU fosters cultural cooperation and policy dialogue, outside the EU as well, through regional groups, international organisations and bespoke relationships with individual economies. With the 2016 Joint Communication 'Towards an EU strategy for international cultural relations' the EU has established the cornerstone for its international cultural cooperation. Promoting culture as a vital element in EU international relations has been one of the three main objectives of the European Agenda for Culture corresponding to social, economic and external dimensions. This dedication was renewed as part of the 2018 New European Agenda for Culture which aims at harnessing the full potential of culture while supporting innovation, creativity, sustainable jobs and growth. Several EU Programmes support cooperation with the Western Balkans economies, just to mention: the EU's Creative Europe Programme and the New European Bauhaus (NEB).
