News archive - Release of Transport Research & Innovation Portal (TRIP)

TRIP is the new name given to the former TRKC, Transport Research Knowledge Centre. For TRIP both the web site and content have been enhanced. The Transport Research & Innovation Portal (TRIP) gives you an overview of research activities at European and national level.

Created in 1997, the initiative currently funded by DG MOVE under the 7FP, strongly contributes to a wide dissemination and promotion of transport research & innovation.

While still continuing the main services provided in the past, TRIP, together with its new name, now has a new visual identity and new features to improve the services offered to its users.

The Portal now presents advanced and user friendly search and navigation capabilities to find transport research projects and related information. A number of additional references have been added to the Project Database, including an increased number of project deliverables.

To keep you up to date on transport research & innovation activities implemented by EU Institutions and the Research Community at large, the former TRKC services will continue: News is displayed on the TRIP Portal, together with an Events Calendar of the key transport conferences taking place worldwide. This information will reach you directly if you subscribe to the monthly TRIP e-Newsletter.

TRIP gives particular attention to the contribution of research & innovation to meet relevant policy challenges in the transport field. Every year, 4 Policy Brochures will be released, accompanied by Videos presenting the key elements of each publication.

TRIP also produces Thematic Research Summaries on a selection of transport themes. The themes have been slightly revised compared to the previous TRKC structure. There are now 24 themes organised into 5 categories.

TRIP invites you to share transport research experiences with others. By submitting project information, news or event announcements, you will contribute to the sourcing of ideas for new transport research activities and to the development of innovation solutions.

TRIP contains:

  • Project Database of 7,299 transport research related projects
  • Country Profiles, presenting national institutions and organisations responsible for funding, promoting and supporting transport research
  • Programmes for research and innovation in transport
  • Policy Brochures presenting results of transport research according to policy topics and Transport Research Summaries on 24 transport themes
  • Videos for each Policy Brochure
  • News of the latest in transport research, policies and innovation, including monthly e-Newsletters
  • Events Calendar of high-level international transport conferences
