In cooperation with ZSI in Vienna, the Austrian Science and Research Liaison Office Ljubljana is announcing a call for proposals for projects in research cooperation and networking between institutions in Austria, Slovenia and the Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, FYR of Macedonia, Kosovo under UNSCR 1244/1999, Montenegro, Serbia). The call is open until February 23, 2010 (date of postmark).
The call is targeted at intensifying short-term cooperation in the scientific field of “Changing Identities in South Eastern Europe: Between Europeanisation, Globalisation, Regionalisation and Nationalism”, with the aim of supporting the development of long-term scientific collaboration. Funding is provided by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (bmwf) within the framework of its South Eastern European Science Cooperation Initiative.
The funded activities shall enable researchers from Austria, Slovenia and the Western Balkan countries to work together on mutually beneficial science driven projects. The main goal is to promote scientific networking and the exchange of research results and know-how.
The total funding available for this call for proposals is 120.000 Euro; a maximum of 20.000 Euro per project is envisaged. The allowable funding per project must be justified by the content, work load, duration and number of teams involved. For projects with higher financial costs, co-financing is expected. The project activities must be implemented after signing the contract and before 30 April 2011.
Possible project activities are: comparative studies, mapping and know-how exchange on European standards and practices in the specified areas etc. The activities should therefore build on already existing scientific results. Please find more information on the objectives and envisaged activities in the call text.
Eligible participants are universities, non-university research institutions and tertiary education organisations. Please note that a minimum participation of at least two eligible institutions from different Western Balkan countries and from at least one eligible institution from Austria is required. The involvement of an additional Slovenian institution in the project team is optional.
