News archive - [Event Review] 17th Steering Platform on Research for the Western Balkan Countries

The 17th Steering Platform on Research took place on June 8-9, 2015 in Budapest. It was hosted by Hungarian Institute of Foreign Affairs and Trade and supported by RCISD (Regional Centre for Information and Scientific Development). The meeting was co-chaired by Latvian Presidency, Montenegro on behalf of the Western Balkan countries and European Commission.

All Co-chairs welcomed the participants and expressed their satisfaction with the continuation of the Steering Platform meetings. Special thanks were expressed towards Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) for financial support of the member’s participation in the SP meeting for the second time. As usual, countries represented by Ministries in charge for science and research as well as other stakeholders updated the participants about the progress made in the previous period. The information is available in form of progress reports, summary is given in presentation "What has been done".

Some of the topics discussed were on WISE (Western Balkan Research and Innovation Centre), first statistics and assessement of the participation of WBC in Horizon 2020, DTP (Danube Transnational Programme), EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology) and its KIC (Knowledge Innovation centres) and possibilities of participation for WBC.
