The Central European Initiative Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology was taking place in Trieste on September 19, 2012, followed by a Ministerial Conference on Next Generation Biofuels on September 20, 2012.

The Central European Initiative at the forefront in promoting Regional Cooperation for European Integration in the field of Science and Technology – this is what emerged from the CEI Ministerial Meeting on Science and Technology held in Trieste on September 19, 2012. Ministers and their representatives welcomed the establishment of the Central European Research Infrastructure Consortium - C-ERIC, a network aimed at facilitating access to advanced research facilities for scientific institutions from 18 CEI Member States.

The Ministerial Meeting adopted a Final Communiqué
 
On September 20, 2012 at the CEI Ministerial Conference on Renewable Energy in a Bio-based Economy: The Option of Next Generation Biofuels  Ministers, EC high-level officials and international experts recognised the challenge of Next Generation Biofuels as a priority option  for any eco-friendly strategy in the field of renewable energy and for promoting a bio-based economy in the CEI region.
