The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is part of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. SDC financially supports and administrates - along with the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) - the regional research promotion programme called SCOPES (Scientific Cooperation between Eastern Europe and Switzerland). It further funds and administrates - along with the University of Fribourg - the Regional Research Promotion Programme in the Western Balkans in the field of Social Sciences (RRPP).

The main interest regards the activities in the field of research promotion and cooperation by other donors, the exchange of experience and information, the evolution of cooperation as well as documentation and statistics.
