I have been involved in the domain of intellectual property and development issues since 2002, when I was a graduate student at the Central European University working on my LLM thesis on the protection of IP on the Internet. From 2002 – 2005, I have been a researcher for the Diplo Foundation, University of Malta, working on the development of the intellectual property basket and mini portal pertaining to IP matters in the digital environment within the Information Society Governance Project. In the year 2003 I was a fellow of the WIPO Worldwide Academy in attending the Intermediate Seminar on Copyright and Related Rights, Geneva, Switzerland and the subsequent Training Course on Copyright and Related Rights, Helsinki, Finland. I have taken several courses in IP organized by the WIPO Worldwide Academy, the most recent one being: the Advanced Course on Patents. Since 2007 I am a licensed industrial property attorney on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia. Sine 2003 I have been a lead person and project coordinator at Center for Information Society and Intellectual Property, NGO active in the promotion of IP matters in Macedonia and the Western Balkans, and also an NGO – that has been elected as a permanent observer with the General Assemblies of the WIPO Member States. Moreover, I have been a lead researcher in IP matters at the University American College Skopje since 2007. I was a Fulbright fellow and visiting scholar in IP and Technology Law at Duke School of Law for the academic year 2008/2009. I have also received a scholarship for graduate studies in International Intellectual Property Law at Chicago Kent College of Law for the academic year 2009/2010. This September, I have also been appointed to serve as a Robert McNamara World Bank fellow and visiting scholar in intellectual property and development at Duke University Terry Sanford School of Public Policy, International Development Center. Currently, as a graduate student in International IP Law at Chicago Kent College of Law, I am undertaking a research related to the IP protection of the music folklore of the Balkan States.
