Bratislav Stankovic (PhD, JD, MSc) is a professor, researcher, and patent attorney with interdisciplinary qualifications and international experience. He strives to foster improved understanding of the issues at the intersection of law, science, technology, and ethics through a variety of means, including traditional publications and presentations, as well as providing input to government and international organizations. Dr. Stankovic has made particular contributions in the areas of international intellectual property, legislative drafting, innovation and policy issues involving biotechnology or health, as well as plant molecular and space biology. He is a registered US patent attorney, teaches Patent Law at Loyola University Chicago, and serves as a Science & Technology Advisor to the President of Macedonia Dr. Gjorge Ivanov. He has over 25 years of experience as a scientist in academic settings, including 5 years as a Chief Scientist at the NASA-funded Wisconsin Center for Space Automation and Robotics, University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he was the principal investigator for experiments on the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. Dr. Stankovic is the author of over 70 peer-reviewed articles, books, book chapters, government and international reports on law, science and policy related to innovation, patents, technology transfer, bioethics, research ethics, reproductive technologies, stem cells, and space biology. He is a recipient of two U.S. Fulbright Scholarships for IP law and technology transfer. His work has been funded by The British Council, National Science Foundation, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the European Commission (FP7 Marie Curie grant, IPA transnational cooperation grant). He is ranked in the top 15% SSRN authors.
