Immersive Storytelling

The Immersive Storytelling project uses digital technology to open up historical artefacts to new audiences, and aims to drive digital transformation in the cultural and creative industries.

Cultural heritage sites in the Western Balkans often lack good visual presentation and audience engagement. Audience needs and attention spans are drastically changing, so they must adapt to the new environment and the contemporary digital shift.

To attract new audiences in a highly competitive market, these sites need to develop new strategies and foster progressive collaboration to stand out and succeed. This requires creation of innovative dissemination methods, using advanced technologies and designed to enhance user experience. These challenges are not unique to cultural heritage institutions of a particular country but distinctive to the whole Western Balkans.

It is therefore essential to build up the capacities of these institutions with the aim of developing more immersive storytelling experiences for the visitors of cultural heritage sites. This project will build upon existing cooperation between the project partners and develop the capacities of cultural institutions in the Western Balkans to explore how immersive storytelling can create narratives and experiences that will attract new audiences and disseminate the values of cultural heritage further.
