D-STIR - Danube Framework for Responsible Research and Innovation using Socio-Technical Integration

D-STIR’s objective is to improve Danube framework conditions for innovation, by integrating Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in the whole innovation pipeline.

With implementation of the Socio-Technical Integration Research (STIR) method of research, D-STIR project is extremely important for Danube innovation framework conditions as RRI awareness and capacity in the region are limited. It ensures that R&I is carried out in a socially, environmentally and ethically manner.

D-STIR is highly innovative. It applies RRI implementation method across the Danube and in less developed regions for the first time. Projects long-term expected objecticve: an innovation pipeline based on cooperation, responsibility and competitiveness.

STIR supports interactions between experts from different disciplines (humanities and social science with technological sectors), who collaboratively reflect on the societal context of research decisions in order to support reflexive learning and practical adjustments.

D-STIR was designed to encourage innovation that brings responsible products to the markets swiftly. The final output, Danube RRI Strategy, includes recommendations and concrete tools, particularly an adaptation of STIR (Socio-Technical Integration Research) method.
