European Students Parliament - Debate Science
European Student Parliament is a project initiated by Wissenschaft im Dialog from Berlin with the goal to strengthen dialogue between students aged between 16 and 19 and scientific researchers in Europe.
Objectives
- Strengthening the dialogue and exchange between students and scientists
- Introducing students to parliamentary procedures on science and research
- Enabling students to form a qualified opinion and to assess complex topics
- Introducing students to a European community
Target Group
- Students between 16 and 19 years old
- School levels 10 to 12
- Interest in the functioning of democratic systems
- Interest in science and in learning about new topics,
- Ambitions to share ideas in discussion
- Sound knowledge of the English language
Topic
- Overall Topic: The Future of the Human Being
- 7 Subtopics
- Each parliament with 5 selected subtopics and working groups
Organisation
- 15-20 local (national) student parliaments
- Taking place from Winter 2015/16 to Spring 2016
- 60 to 100 participants at the national parliament
- Delegation of students chosen for final student parliament
- Final European student parliament during the EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) in July 2016 in Manchester
Language
- Conference language for the national/local parliaments: national language of each country
- Final student parliament in Manchester: English
