Integrated Innovation Support Programme, Republic of Serbia
The Integrated Innovation Support Programme (IISP) is an EU funded project in order to increase competitiveness and economic growth in the Republic of Serbia, through strengthening of innovation in SMEs. The main beneficiary and project partner is the Ministry of Finance and Economy. The other project partners are the National Agency for Regional Development and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development. The Integrated Innovation Support Programme is 24 months long project with overall value of 2,8 million euros, financed by IPA funds. The project is implemented by an international consortium, led by GFA Consulting Group GmbH, Germany.
The project is based on development and improvement of quality standards in innovative services at a national and a local level. The primary purpose of the Integrated Innovation Support Programme is research, definition and improvement of the quality, range and availability of institutional capacity for efficient innovation support of the SME sector and improvement of instruments for financing innovation activities in SMEs.
The main goal of the Integrated Innovation Support Programme is to offer solutions for issues SMEs face in implementing innovation activities.
In order to reach the objectives the project will strengthen innovation activities in SMEs through the development of new institutional models for direct support to innovative SMEs and new financial instruments. This includes:
- Developing better linkages between SMEs and the innovation support organisations for a more efficient process of technology transfer
- Encouraging innovation within SMEs through specific assistance at a national and a local level
- Developing new institutional models for direct support to SMEs, such as a technology broker programme
- Promoting the role of equity investments
- Promoting the role of business angels in SMEs
- Providing support for development of venture capital funds in Serbia
- Establishing and designing an innovation voucher scheme
