Business Plan Competition Project, Albania

As part of the OECD’s Western Balkans Regional Competitiveness Initiative (RCI), a three-year project supported by the European Commission with the aim of improving competitiveness in Western Balkan economies through support for innovation and human capital development, the Albanian Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Energy (METE) and the OECD Investment Compact for South East Europe on April 27, 2012 organised the official launch of the Albania Business Plan Competition.

The Competition’s overarching goal is to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in Albania, as well as to connect promising business ideas with expertise, contacts, and potential sources of financing. This is the first time a Business Plan Competition was held in Albania, a country with a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

The growth and diversification of Albania’s economy will depend upon the development of a vibrant entrepreneurial culture. Starting a business not only requires a good idea. It requires a logical and structured plan which will be used to attract potential investors to finance a business idea. The Albania Business Plan Competition is being organised in an effort to assist Albania’s promising entrepreneurs in taking the first steps to start up their own businesses.
