"Institute of Animal Sciences (IAS), Kostinbrod, Bulgaria
IAS in Kostinbrod, near to Sofia, is a state institute and its Director is responsible to the Chairman of the National Center for Agrarian Sciences (NCAS). IAS was established 55 years ago. Both IAS and NCAS are subordinate to the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. IAS is involved in research and of scientific studies in the field of animal breeding, nutrition and quality of animal products. It has departments on: animal breeding, technology and reproduction, including cattle, sheep, horses, population genetics; animal feeding and feed technology; animal product`s quality, including milk and meat, environment and organic farming; general genetics; biochemistry and physiology. Total number of scientists – 45, total number of staffs – 80."
