Slovenian Business and Research Association

Acronym
SBRA
Description

SBRA is registered since 1999 in Belgium as an International Non-profit association, and represents a link between business, research communities, as well as municipal authorities in Slovenia with their European partners . As an association of a wide range of stakeholders, it assists its membership primarily to participate successfully in Community programmes (in FP6 the EU funding per capita for Slovenia was 35.3 EUR, which is the highest among the 12 new member states and higher than EU25 average – 30.9 EUR).
In order to better serve its members SBRA is coordinating/participating in the following European networks: NIROC, RIBN, EREF, ERRIN, EPN, and Lisbon Regions.
Since its establishment SBRA has successfully participated in 8 EU research projects, more than half involving WBC.

Previous experience:
Together with National Research Agency - SBRA has coordinated since 2002 a collaborative, national project leading to the development of an integrated information system “Slovenia – your Cooperation Partner” (SYCP). The system is presenting primarily the Slovenian RTD potential in order to facilitate partner search of European project managers, and involves most line ministries, Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Craft, and many other national associations. It is a web-based, comprehensive information system with several partner-search tools. In the SPREAD project the SYCP system has been selected as a best-practice case of re-use of public information in the private sector.
SBRA has extensive links with research and business stakeholders in countries of Western Balkans, primarily through RIBN Network (www.ribn.eu) as well as collaboration with important organisations in the region, such as the ECPD. Membership in RIBN includes over 80 organisations and individuals from all countries in the region of Western Balkans.
