Description

The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CE.R.T.H.), is one of the largest research centers of Northern Greece, it was founded in March 2000 and is a legal, private law, non-profit organization, under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), of the Greek Ministry of Development.
The mission of CERTH is to carry out basic and applied research with emphasis in developing new products and services with industrial, economic and social impact, in the following areas:

  • Chemical engineering and materials processes
  • Information, telematics and telecommunications
  • Transportation
  • Agrobiotechnology and food processes control
  • Improved and integrated technologies for the exploitation of solid fuels and alternative energy sources

CERTH's development is based on the commitment to the underlying principles:

  • High quality basic research
  • Innovative technological applications
  • Cooperation with Universities in Greece and abroad
  • Promotion of the collaboration with enterprises and technology transfer
  • Advanced training of new researchers

Today, CERTH consists of five Research Institutes and a new member soon to be added, which are:
