City College Thessaloniki
CITY College was founded in Thessaloniki in 1989. In 1993, CITY signed an official agreement with the University according to which the College assumed the responsibility of running a series of the University’s undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Thessaloniki, Greece.
The high academic standards and the establishment of mutual trust which have distinguished the collaboration of the two institutions over the years led to the official recognition of CITY as an Affiliated College of the University of Sheffield in March 1997.
It is the first time that the University of Sheffield awards affiliation status to an academic institution outside the UK. The upgrading in the institutional framework of the Sheffield-CITY partnership has further strengthened the relationship between them. It should be noted that the official privileges that the University bestows upon the Affiliation status, allow CITY to be one of the very few colleges worldwide to have ever gained such recognition from a British University.
Today CITY consists of three academic departments and one division:
- The Department of Business Administration & Economics
- The Department of Computer Science
- The Department of Psychology
- The Division of Humanities and Social Sciences
The South - East European Research Centre (SEERC) was jointly established by the University of Sheffield and CITY College in 2003, in Thessaloniki. SEERC is an international, multidisciplinary, not-for-profit research centre.
CITY is accredited and recognised by the British Accreditation Council .
