• Provision of capacity and institutional building programmes for the various communities, public and private business support organizations and associations; • Implementation of the EU and other donor programmes in partnership with other domestic and foreign organisations in different areas of sustainable development; • Delivery of business management and entrepreneurship training and consultancy projects/programmes for the SMEs; • Formulation and implementation of the regional and sectoral economic development policies; • Preparation of surveys, studies and researches on different areas of social and economic development; • Promotion of the competitiveness and innovation and technology transfer polices and strategies; • Development of the value chains and cluster development in various sectors; • Accomplishment of the project/programme monitoring and evaluation; • Fostering the adoption of initiatives and measures with respect to environmental performance improvement and resource and energy efficiency optimisation; • Adoption of the advanced information application systems at the enterprise level; • Assistance in implementation of the employment policies, labour market reform and workforce development; • Encouragement of cooperation and trade among business communities and organisations; • Facilitation of adoption of the international standards in relation with business practices.
