Description

"The UdG has seven teaching centres: the Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Business and Economic Sciences, Faculty of Education Sciences, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Arts, Advanced Polytechnic School and University School of Nursing.
The University also has six centres assigned to it: the Official Catalan School of Tourism, CETA University School of Tourism, ESMA University School of Tourism, Euroaula University School of Tourism, Mediterranean University School of Tourism and Sant Pol de Mar University School of Tourism, as well as being linked to a further centre: Girona Advanced School of Public Relations.
The other centres and institutes pertaining to the UdG are: the Institute of Education Sciences; Institute of Aquatic Ecology; Institute of Computer Sciences and Applications; Institute of Catalan Language and Culture; Institute of the Environment; Institute of Cultural Heritage; Institute of Computational Chemistry; Institute of Research on the Quality of Life; Institute of Agricultural-Alimentary Technology; Chair of Contemporary Art and Culture; Ferrater Mora Chair of Contemporary Thinking; Chair of Geography and Territorial Thinking; Chair of Maritim Studies; and the Lluís Santaló Chair of Applied Mathematics. Also worthy of mention are the European Documentation Centre; and the Centre for Documentation and Study of European and Mediterranean Languages.
The following services, which are offered to the university community in general, are also to be found at the UdG: Library Services , Office of Research and Technology Transfer(OITT), Scientific and Technological Calculus Service, Sports Service, Service of Academic Management and Students' affairs, Computer Sciences Service, Modern Languages Service, Publications Services, Geographical and Remote Sensing Information systems, and General Research Laboratories (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance, Microscope).
The Occupational Promotion Office is responsible for putting students in touch with the labour market, and the Office of Technological Innovation and Transfer forms a bridge between the University and the business world, aimed at channelling the research potential of UdG and applying it within the society.
At present, the precise characteristics of the Scientific and Technological Park are in the final stages of being defined. Likewise, the UdG Ombudsman is the figure which the statutes require to ensure the defence of the rights of the entire university community. In accordance with the statutes, via the Delegation of Co-operative Affairs for Development, the UdG actively participates in the social and cultural progress of developing countries."
