The Croatian boat and yacht building industry as developed into an internationally known source since the early 1990`s and Croatian boatbuilding continues its upward trend. Today, this sector encompasses a respectable number of more than 60 companies. New production facilities, able to build more and better, organised in compliance with EU standards are being opened daily.

The number of ships/boats of all types, built in fiberglass, aluminum and wood, is growing every year. Resulting from implementation of new technologies in production, Croatian boats became recognized on the international market with the quality of workmanship of Croatian boatbuilders.

Although there is a long tradition of boat builders in the Republic of Croatia, it was not until Autumn 2007 that 21 Croatian boatbuilding companies decided to join forces and to establish the Croatian Boatbuilding Cluster. A group of 21 Croatian boatbuilders, marine industry manufacturers, equipment and material suppliers and related service providers have thus formed strong strategic alliance in order to provide more effective solutions to its clients. Cluster members collaborate in terms of shared resources and look at ways of becoming more competitive and efficient in the increasingly global market place.

A production program of the Cluster is quite diverse. It fulfills many sailing needs and preferences that comprise:

* sailing boats
* family motor yachts
* rubber boats
* canoes
* fifty meters yachts
* and more

The products of the companies within the Croatian Boatbuilding Cluster are primarily appreciated for their high quality among their clients. Among Croatian producers there are already some European recognised Croatian brand names.

The Cluster created a synergy of Croatian boat producers and equipment manufacturers that are capable to make Croatian boat building industry both recognisable and competitive at the demanding European market.
