The University of Prishtina was founded in the city of Pristina in 1969 and functioned as an organisational unit until 1999. Today the University of Prishtina is an important institution of the higher education system in Kosovo: "Dedicated to teaching and research, according to western values and systems, University of Pristina is making bold steps to move towards the Bologna Process."
