Description

“Euro-Balkan” Institute is certified as selfstanding scientific research institute for social sciences and humanities in accordance with the Decision (No.33/ June 2005) of the Ministry of Education and Science. Since July 2007, “Euro-Balkan” Institute is also an accredited higher education institution (graduate studies in Sociology and Gender/ Philosophy and Gender). Accreditation for two other graduate programs (Cultural Studies and Southeast Europe Studies) expected till the start of the academic year 2008/2009.
Since its foundation in 1998 “Euro-Balkan” has been active in academic excellence building activities for young academics from the region of Central, Eastern and South-Eastern Europe (SEE), through its international summer schools, a program called Ohrid Summer University (OSU) and RESET project 2004-6. OSU is an academic program which offers intensive, problem oriented and research based courses from the domain of social sciences and humanities. To date “Euro-Balkan” Institute, trough OSU program, has organized 27 summer schools from various areas with over 500 participants (PhD students), involving more than 100 professors. The organization of these summer schools has been paying a special attention to:
- Implementation of the highest academic standards for teaching and reaserch.
- The interdisciplinary approach and regional contextualization of the subject.
