Description

The EU’s Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) aims to encourage the competitiveness of European enterprises. With SMEs as its main target, the programme supports innovation activities (including eco-innovation), provides better access to finance and deliver business support services in the regions. It will encourage a better take-up and use of information and communications technologies (ICT) and help to develop the information society. It will also promote the increased use of renewable energies and energy efficiency.

Montenegrojoined the EU's Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP) in March 2008 and associated itself with the first EIP and third component ICT PSP – April 2011. DDSME is the responsible institution for the first component, while the Ministry for Informational Society and Telecommunications is for the third one. The establishment of the European Information and Innovation Centre Montenegro was financially supported by this programme (DG Research 2010: 7).
