News archive - [Event Review] Closing Ceremony of Two IPA 2007 Projects Regarding the Establishment of a Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development in Croatia

The European Union financed, with nearly € 4.5 mil, capacity building and establishment of a fully operational Paying Agency for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development, which is responsible for implementation of national measures and EU pre-accession programmes for agriculture and rural development and, upon accession to the EU, for implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy. As part of this process, the Agency’s task includes processing, approving and controlling of approved beneficiaries applications and claims, and paying out of the support to final beneficiaries in line with the national and EU legislation.

The wo-year projects „Support to establishment of fully operational Paying Agency in line with the EU standards“ and „Capacity Building of the Croatian Paying Agency“ enabled:

Establishment of the Integrated Administrative Control System, that serves to administer, monitor and control supports in agriculture
Establishment of efficient financial system in the Paying Agency
Education of the employees and
Implementation of the information campaign that has familiarized Croatian farmers with what they can expect in the European Union.

The results achieved in these two projects were discussed at the closing ceremony of the projects that took place on April 3, 2012 at Hotel International, Zagreb with participation of high representatives of the EU member states.

Mr Dacian Cioloş, European Union Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development participated together with Croatian Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Tihomir Jakovina as the key note speakers to the closing ceremony of two EU-funded projects. The Commissioner also met representatives of Croatian farmers associations to exchange views and information on the current and future CAP.
