News archive - BiH has finally adopted a new higher education law

SETimes.com reports on the adoption of the Law on Higher Education in Bosnia and Herzegovina on July 30, 2007. Students will now be able to receive internationally recognised diplomas. As controversly discussed, funding will still be provided on entity level.

The article, among other aspects discusses that BiH was the only signatory state of the Bologna Process which did not have a law on higher education. Several institutions will be established: the Agency for Education to improve education at the lower, elementary and secondary school levels; CIRCA to work on diploma recognition; and the Quality Assurance Agency to set up standards and criteria for the accreditation of higher education coordinating higher education in the country.
