News archive - Bilateral Agreement between Albania and Italy
Albania's Education Minister Genc Pollo and Italian Ambassador to Tirana Saba D'Elia signed the third bilateral executive program of the Agreement of Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the Republic of Albania and Republic of Italy for 2008-2010 period on December 3, 2008.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Albanian Premier Sali Berisha and Italian counterpart Romano Prodi.
Premier Berisha and Premier Prodi signed the Agreement on Extradition between Republic of Albania and Republic of Italy, as addition to the European Convention on Extradition, dated December 13, 1957 and European Convention on Juridical Assistance for Penal Issues, dated April 20, 1959. The Agreement aims at facilitating their implementation.
Additionally, Albanian Minister of Economy, Trade and Energy Genc Ruli and ENEL's representative Director-General Fulvio Conti signed Memorandum of Understanding between ENEL and the Albanian Ministry of Economy, Trade and Energy.
State-of-the-art of the Scientific and Technological Cooperation
Albania and Italy have recognized the increasing importance of science and technology for the economic, social and cultural development. For this reason they have found the necessity to intensify their collaboration in order to improve the Agreement
The Agreement of Scientific and Technological Cooperation opened the new bilateral call for proposal in the following thematic areas:
- Health and hospital organization
- Agronomy, Veterinary and Zootechnic
- Geology and Forestalls Sciences
- Energy and Environment
- Urban studies
- New technology applied to the alimentary industry
- Telecommunications
- New technology applied to the infrastructure
- Information for public services
- Archaeology and protection of cultural heritage
During the first call for proposals 44 mobility proposals have been submitted and 25 were selected.
