News archive - [Event Announcement] U-KNOW Project final conference

The EU-funded U-KNOW ('Understanding the relationship between knowledge and competitiveness in the enlarging European Union') project will hold its final conference in Brussels, Belgium, on February 17, 2009.

The conference will feature two keynote addresses plus 12 scientific contributions in two parallel sessions. The research results of the project will be summarised, leaving room for comments and discussions on the subjects, conclusions and their political implications.

The project focused on aspects of innovation processes, technology transfer via foreign direct investment, and cooperation between universities or other research institutions with industry and public administrations.

The capabilities of agents involved in those processes, as well as their being intensively and productively networked, play an important role in the success of the Lisbon Strategy. For the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, this is not only a great challenge, but their experience can also be used to help improve science policies, education policies, and economic/industrial policies in the rest of Europe.
