News archive - Passion for Science - ESOF 2010 launches Open Call

ESOF – the Euroscience Open Forum – is the biennial European meeting dedicated to scientific research and innovation created by Euroscience. The next Euroscience Open Forum ESOF 2010 will take place in Torino/Italy on July 2-7, 2010 under the motto "Passion for Science".

ESOF's core part is a Scientific Programme offering seminars, workshops and debates and a Career Programme for young European researchers. However, ESOF is also linking science to business, to the media and to the general public. Furthermore, it comprises an exhibition area and several social and satellite events held in the host city.

An open Call for Proposals has been launched  (Deadline: June 15, 2009). WBC-INCO.NET is also planning to submit a proposal...

ESOF 2010 Themes
Proposals could address issues and questions such as those listed below each theme headline. Within each theme, applicants are also encouraged, when appropriate, to address cross-cutting issues such as: linking the natural and social sciences, humanities and arts; policy implications; economical and business issues; media
involvement; ethical dimensions; public perceptions.

1. Sustainable living and moving
2. Evolution, development and adaptation of organisms
3. Moving into and up from the quantum world
4. Responding to global needs
5. Frontiers in energy research
6. Science, knowledge and belief
7. Memory and learning in organisms, social and artificial systems
8. Languages, cultures and variability
9. Integrating science with health care
