News archive - Serbia signs agreement on scientific and technological cooperation with China
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Technological Development Bozidar Djelic and Chinese Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang signed in Beijing the Agreement on Scientific and Technical Cooperation on April 7, 2009.
Minister Djelic stressed that cooperation with China is very important for Serbia, particularly when it comes to high technologies and biotechnology for the production of food and new materials.He said the agreement will open the possibilities for Chinese companies to obtain a better position in the European market through scientific and technological cooperation with Serbia.
His Excellency Minister of science and technology Van Gang said it is crucial to raise Chinese companies’ interest in Serbia. In that sense they agreed that a Serbian business delegation should visit China soon to meet with key Chinese partners in science and technology.Gang noted that last year the Chinese government invested 116 billion Yuan in science, which is 1.5% of their GDP.
China has 29.000 researchers and 1.500 universities and 6 million people graduate from their faculties every year. There are 22 million students in China, of which 45% study the sciences and technology.
