The conference on science and technology indicators will be organised around the following themes:
- quantitative and qualitative approaches: a special focus in evaluation of the academic performance;
- S&T indicators for the identification of emerging fields;
- disciplinary relevance of bibliometric indicators: science and technology, social sciences and humanities;
- interactions between Open Access initiatives and scientometrics;
- visualisation and science mapping: tools, methods and applications;
- accuracy and reliability of data sources for scientometric studies;
- management and measurement of bibliometric data within scientific organisations.

The target group of the conference includes policy makers and politicians concerned with the design and implementation of national and international S&T policy; research and development (R&D) managers in funding agencies, universities and research institutes and the business sector; information scientists and statisticians; researchers in the field of S&T studies; science publishers and editors, writers and journalists and database vendors as well as librarians.
