News archive - Event Announcement: 2nd Europe INNOVA Conference
Lyon will be hosting the 2nd INNOVA Conference from October 22-24, 2008 with the of the French Presidency of the European Union.
In recent years, France has placed innovation at the heart of its economic development policy, stimulating innovation through new instruments such as the Regional Research Agency, the creation of "Pôles de compétitivité", its innovation agency OSEO, and other initatives. With an objective of 2% of the GDP spent for private R&D France intends to stimulate private R&D investments, help the emergence of clusters, and create an attractive environment for competive SMEs.
As the next president of the EU, France will promote a European-wide innovation policy, with emphasis on intellectual property, SMEs and ICTs.
