News archive - Register TODAY: Brokerage event “Conflict and peace in a changing international context: Funding opportunities, matchmaking, networking in FP7”

An international information and matchmaking event in the field of research related societal aspects of security will be taking place on 06 / 07 July 2011 in Brussels. This event is jointly organized by the German National Contact Point for Socio-Economic Sciences and the Humanities (SSH NCP) and NET4SOCIETY in cooperation with the European Commission. Main topics include:

  • Climate change and scarcity of natural resources: major threats to security and peace
  • Regions and regionalization and their impact on stability, democracy, security and peace
  • Fostering peace-building in a changing geopolitical context
  • Migration, interaction and dialogues in transitional societies
  • Evolving concept of human security

The aim of the conference is to highlight research topics related to societal aspects of security within the “Socio-economic sciences and Humanities” (SSH) and “Security” priority area of the specific programme “Cooperation” of the 7th EU Framework Programme (FP7) and to bring together the respective international scientific community to foster cooperative, interdisciplinary research in this field.

On the first day of the conference participants will receive first hand information about the policy context, funding opportunities and the forthcoming calls for proposals. A foresight session will be focusing on the needs beyond FP7. Successful coordinators of EU-funded projects will share their experiences and their latest findings.

On the second day parallel sessions on the topics focusing on societal aspects of security research of the forthcoming work programmes in FP7 will be taking place.
A matchmaking event according to the topics of the parallel sessions will afterwards take place to facilitate the setup of FP7 project consortia.
