Every year, the European Union provides over 7 billion euro in external assistance to more than 150 countries and territories by means of either contracts to provide services, supplies or works to beneficiary countries or grants (generally for projects proposed by non-profit making organisations).
The main areas for support are:
Access to clean and safe water; Rural development and food security; Health: accessible quality care; Education systems and access to school; Prosperity: trade and the private sector; Freedom, Human Rights, good governance; Security, justice, regional cooperation.
