News archive - EC Publishes Outcome of Consultation on Simplification of Framework Programmes
In 2009, the European Commission conducted a public stakeholder consultation in order to collect ideas and suggestions for the planned Communication on simplification in 2010. The Commission has received 294 online contributions, 75 percent of which are or have been involved in an FP project. Five percent of the respondents came from third countries. A summary of the consultation's results is now available.
Stakeholders participating in the consultation considered the following three themes as crucial:
• simplification of the Framework Programme structure and of the corresponding administrative and financial rules (e.g. simplification of the financial accountability requirements)
• improved access to the programme and user support (e.g. adoption of a more user-centric approach at every stage of the project life-cycle) and
• tackling the timing issue (e.g. faster execution and optimised timing of deadlines).
