News archive - FP7 evaluators from Western Balkans: data available and another call for registrations
In the course of the Steering Platform on Research for Western Balkan countries, the need to include more evaluators from the region in the European Commission database was discussed. The European Commission provided current data on this issue (number of registered evaluators, number of selected evaluators to date in FP7) and the information towards Western Balkans researchers to use this opportunity: a great possiblity to contribute to the European Research Area, to learn about FP proceedures, to exchange information on state-of-the-art in your scientific field, financial reimbursement of travel and subsistence costs and 450 Euro honorarium per day, etc.
The following data was presented on October 29, 2009. It provides a good indication even if it is maybe not perfectly accurate and subject to change with every day (just use your opportunity now and register via CORDIS).
Registered | Selected | |
Albania | 24 | 0 |
Bosnia and Herzegovina | 32 | 1 |
Croatia | 262 | 22 |
FYR of Macedonia | 55 | 2 |
Montenegro | 14 | 1 |
Serbia | 161 | 18 |
TOTAL | 548 | 44 |
For comparision a few CEE countries were discussed, which have still - as data reveals - a better chance of being selected (e.g. from 227 registered researchers from Slovakia, a figure smaler than the one from Croatia, 77 have been selected for evaluations). From Slovenia, 468 researchers are registered to become evaluators (94 have already been selected). It is important to raise the figures further and to demonstrate WBC excellence and involvement. A country like Austria has more than 1800 potential evaluators registered.
In our news archive you find a few articles on the process to register as an evaluator (it's really simple, basically you just submit your CV with a few key words), and the link for the registration is at CORDIS: http://www.wbc-inco.net/goto/971.html
