Untill February 28, 2008 you are invited to contribute to the development of the future workprogramme in the field of ICT in future research (with a special focus on challenge 4 - intelligent content and semantics, tackling e.g. online content and interactive media, knowledge discovery and management, information access and integration, system and process interoperability).

DG INFSO Unit E2 ( "Content and Knowledge" ) has launched a public consultation with regard to future research directions and priorities beyond 2008. They invite to contribute to the discussion and thus ultimately contribute to the shaping of the Work Programme 2009-2010. The Work Programme will drive ICT calls and operations in 2009-2010, with a total budget in excess of 2 billion euro.

How to provide your input?

  1. Your submission should not exceed 3000 characters.
  2. Each submission should address a single R&D topic - neither a single project nor the whole programme! - and outline the constituent research tasks, the expected scientific and/or technological innovation, and the potential socio-economic impact.
  3. Topics should be related to research domains and disciplines pertaining to the mandate of our unit, in particular online content and interactive media, knowledge discovery and management, information access and integration, system and process interoperability.
  4. Where relevant, the submission should specify in what respect the research being proposed differs - in terms of aims, approach, scale, etc. - from recent and ongoing efforts, whether at European or national/industrial level.

You can also submit your contribution by e-mail to the INFSO E2 mailbox INFSO-E2@ec.europa.eu, with the mention 'Future research' in the subject field.
