News archive - [Event Announcement] 18th Conference: Technology, Culture and Development. Palic, Subotica, Serbia

The 18th Conference Technology, Culture and Development will take place in Palic, Subotica Serbia (August 29 – September 1 2011) and the context of the conference this year will be: Western Balkan on the road to the European Union.  Applications for taking part in the work of the Meeting should be sent by post or email no later than July 31, 2011. Registration fee is 10.000 Din (€ 100). The first topic of the conference is: The cooperation of research, development and innovation systems of West Balkan countries and the second topic refers to the  Structural and cultural problems of knowledge based development.

Aim and Subject of the Conference

This conference deals each year with selected topic on the scientific, open and democratic way, with the aim to contribute to the reliable understanding of the sense, purposes and implications of entering the European union and timely preparations for this cultural, sociopolitical, economic and overall undertaking of epochal importance to the Western Balkans countries.

The first topic

The cooperation of research, development and innovation systems of West Balkan countries – challenges, opportunities and ideas for cooperation. »Europe 2020« is EU strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth of economies- an economy based on knowledge and innovation. The implementation of this strategy will need that actual and future members of EU reform national and regional R&D and innovation systems (RDI) and to enhance cross-border cooperation of these systems. This is of particular importance for West Balkan countries since their RDI cooperation is very efficient way to use and properly develop national RDI systems which are currently not of sufficient capacities. The focus of this theme is on practical consideration of challenges, opportunities, ideas, and subjects of this cooperation.

 The second topic

Structural and cultural problems of knowledge based development is aimed at considering the influence of two, among others, key factors of knowledge based development. The first factor is structural characteristics of actual social and economic systems. The second factor is actual   cultural model for which we take that governs the behavior of individuals, groups and whole national community in regard to the generation, acquisition, diffusion and utilization of scientific knowledge for social and economic development. Other key factors of knowledge based development will be considered at the following years conferences.

 Method of the work

The Conference work is plenary with the intention to enable the full interdisciplinary and intensive interactions between different research disciplines, attitudes, problem understanding and solving strategy. The total time of the Conference is distributed on submission of papers, plenary discussions, artistic performances and social events.

Participants

There are invited individuals from university and scientific institutions, industrial firms, governmental agencies, cultural, political and non-governmental organizations, professional associations and organizations, media, as well as those outside of any organization or institution to take part in the work of this Conference.

 Papers

The participation at the Conference is not conditioned by the submission of the paper. Those participants who wish to submit the paper are kindly asked to observe the following:

  1. Subject of the papers should be in accordance with the topics of the Conference.
  2. Length and work out of the paper should be in accordance to the instructions delivered by the Organizing Committee.
  3. Papers are subject to the peer review.
  4. Papers should not have been submitted at any other conference or published.

Application forms

Application forms for participation and abstracts of the papers to be submitted should be posted or e-mailed no later than July 27th, 2011. Papers to be publishing in the Proceedings of the Conference should be prepared strictly in accordance to instructions and sent after the Conference.
