News archive - [Event Announcement] Conference on the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region – Budapest

The Conference on the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region in Budapest on 25-26 February 2010 is the second of a series of events organised in the framework of the preparation of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region.

The aim of the event is to offer a discussion platform for all interested stakeholders who are willing to be involved in the preparation of the Strategy. At this conference you can give input and discuss in depth the socio-economic, human and institutional development challenges the Danube region faces.

The Budapest conference is organised in parallel with the Danube Summit organised at the Hungarian Parliament.

The conference will be attended by prominent speakers from the European Commission and the Danube Region, including Mr Gordon Bajnai, Hungarian Prime Minister,
Mr Boyko Borisov, Bulgarian Prime Minister, Mr Dirk Ahner, Director General for Regional Policy at the European Commission, Mr József Pálinkás, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and others.

(2) Sustainable development – sustainable agriculture, urban, rural and social aspects

(3) Human development – culture, education and identity

(4) Institutional development and municipalities – euroregions and municipalities

Keynote speakers from Member States, the European Institutions, the academic sector; NGOs local and regional representatives will present their views to animate a lively debate with the audience.
