The Industrial Technologies 2012 Conference is jointly organised by the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center at Aarhus University (iNANO), the Center for Industrial Production at Aalborg University (CIP), and Spinverse and will take place in Aarhus, Denmark on June 19-21, 2012. 

Over 900 projects in the field of Industrial Technologies have been launched under the Framework Programmes 5, 6 & 7. Industrial Technologies 2012 will identify and celebrate the very best of these. The Best Project Award will be given to the project, which has had the greatest economic and societal impact, boosting European competitiveness by creating new products and processes. The deadline for submissions is March 02, 2012.

The Award Ceremony

The Best Project Award will be given during the Award Gala on Wednesday 20 June during Industrial Technologies 2012. 10 finalists will be selected by the steering group of the event, all of whom will have the chance to present a brief outline of their project and its achievements.

The winner will be chosen by a vote from amongst the gala attendees, and will receive the prestigious Best Project Award, which is expected to generate significant media coverage.

The Award Criteria

The main criteria for judging projects will be the results that have been achieved.  Projects should demonstrate tangible achievements such as:

  • New products or processes that have been introduced into the market
  • New markets or market opportunities that have been created
  • New commercial or entrepreneurial activities that have arisen
  • Unexpected spin-offs or unforeseen real impacts
  • Independent recognition of the results as being world-beating
  • Projects should also demonstrate European-Added Value; addressing pan-European challenges with impact beyond a single member state.

 The Best Project Award is open to all projects that have received funding from the Industrial Technologies 2012 programme under Framework Programmes 5, 6 and 7. All projects will get visibility during the Poster Sessions. Apply now

How to Apply

To submit your project for consideration for the Best Project Award, please use the application form to submit your details, ensuring that you select ‘Best Project Award’. The deadline for submissions is 2 March 2012. Apply online at the partner KongresKompagniet.

Financing

One representative from each of the 10 shortlisted projects will receive a complementary ticket to Industrial Technologies 2012. Project representatives are expected to bring their project poster with them as well as to cover their own expenses for travel and accommodation.

The Conference: Industrial Technologies 2012

The event is supported by The European Commission Directorate for Research and Innovation and its Industrial Technologies Programme, and is funded by the European Commission under grant agreement number 290567. The event takes place during the Danish Presidency of the European Council.

Industrial Technologies 2012 will offer integrated coverage of nanoscience and nanotechnology, materials, and new production processes (NMP).

The event programme will highlight the knowledge intensive products and processes driving European growth to 2020, which identifying solution to improve the framework conditions for innovation in Europe.

The core of Industrial Technologies 2012 is a three day congress featuring plenaries, sessions and workshops.

Plenaries

Three congress plenaries will invite high profile international speakers from industry, government and research to discuss visions for European research and industry in 2020, how Europe can succeed in the face of global competition, and the form and impact of Horizon 2020.

Sessions

Over 70 speakers across 18 sessions will reveal the economic and technological impact of industrial technologies, with topics including low emission transportation, integrated systems, improving the environment, energy generation and storage, healthcare and construction. Sessions will also build on the recommendations of the High Level Group on Key Enabling Technologies to promote practical solutions to improve the environment for industrial innovation in Europe.

Workshops

Workshops and break-out sessions will look at individual topics in more detail, reflecting the work of individual project clusters or networks and building commitment and momentum for future activities. The submission of workshop proposals has passed on 30 November 2011.
