News archive - [Event Announcement] Conference on the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region: Transport, Energy and Environmental Issues

A Conference on the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region will take place in Vienna and Bratislava on April 19-21, 2010. The aim of the event is to offer a discussion platform for all interested stakeholders who are willing to be involved in the preparation of the Strategy, give input and discuss in depth the issues of transport, energy, urban areas, environment and information society related to the Danube Region.

Participants are welcome to submit suggestions for good practice projects with macro-regional impact suitable for the EU Strategy for the Danube Region via the public consultation website, opened until April 12: http://ec.europa.eu/regional_policy/consultation/danube/consultation_en.htm

The conference will be attended by prominent speakers from the European Commission and the Danube Region, including Mr Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for Regional Policy, Mr Dušan Čaplovič, Deputy Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic, Mr Michael Spindelegger, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Mr Philippe Maystadt, President of the European Investment Bank and others.
