The Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Montenegro has opened a vacancy for the position of an expert in the field of Conservation and sustainable use of Agro Biodiversity for a period of 30 months. The position is opened within the FP7-REGPOT-2010 project: Fostering a Science-based Development of a sustainable Montenegrin Agriculture.

Duration: 30 months, possibility of extension depending on available funding

Biotechnical Faculty of University of Montenegro seeks for an expert in Conservation and sustainable use of Agro Biodiversity field for a European funded FP7 project AgriSciMont. The project is aimed at improving capacities and human resources in order to increase international visibility and strengthen the position of the Faculty as the important research body in the agricultural and food sciences in the region of the Western Balkans.

The BTF is looking for experienced Conservation and sustainable use of Agro Biodiversity expert to be based in Podgorica for 30 months. The EU Funding scheme - Coordination and support action encourages the experts who left their countries of origin to return back.

 

 Duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Agri SciMont Project Management the expert will be responsible for:

Ø      Conservation and sustainable use of Agro Biodiversity, with specific experience in:

o        Genome analysis techniques;

o        Techniques related to molecular markers and applications measuring genetic diversity;

o        Bioinformatics tools and software for genetic diversity measurements (micro satellites analysis);

o        Genetic marker maps;

o        QTL detection and their extension to candidate genes;

Ø      Collaborate with relevant institutions in the country and abroad in order to facilitate strengthening of the Conservation and sustainable use of Agro Biodiversity area in Montenegro;

Ø      Supporting preparation of project proposals for FP7, IPA and other support schemes;

Ø      Participating in developing of RTD Strategy of BTF, focusing on Conservation and sustainable use of Agro Biodiversity issues;

Ø      Promoting and increasing visibility of the Biotechnical Faculty at international level;

Ø      Increasing the research excellence within the field, improve the collaboration, knowledge and experience exchange between the BTF Departments;


Qualifications:

-          PhD degree in agriculture, molecular biology  or other conservation and sustainable use of Agro Biodiversity related field;

-          At least 4 years of relevant professional experience;

-          Familiarity with national and international policy priorities in the field of Conservation and sustainable use of Agro Biodiversity;

-          Strong communication and consultative skills;

-          English and Montenegrin fluency required;

Salary:  Salary for the position will be matter of negotiation.
