News archive - EP Approves Visa Liberalisation for Bosnia-Hercegovina and Albania

The European Parliament has approved visa liberalisation for Bosnia-Hercegovina and Albania on October 7, 2010, with 538 votes in favour and 47 against. Visa-free travel for BiH and Albanian citizens now faces the final approval from the Council of Ministers.

Tanja Fajon, Slovenian member of the EP responsible for the report on visa liberalisation, congratulated Albania and BiH for achieving the required criteria to be able to travel in the Schengen group of countries without a visa. She added that it is “high time to break down the visa walls, which for too long have separated family and friends in Western Balkans”.
