News archive - Joint SCORE - WBC-INCO.NET Conference "Towards an Information Society for the Western Balkans"

The Conference will address ICT stakeholders such as leading researchers and experts from academia and industry and representatives of Ministries from the Western Balkan Countries (WBC).
The aims is to formulate a coherent strategy and actions for the development of the ICT research environment in the Western Balkans and for the region’s integration in the wider European effort to achieve the Information Society.

During the Conference, the regional ICT research needs, capacities and priorities will be discussed, the future challenges of the Western Balkan ICT research environment will be explored and concrete recommendations/actions for enhanced regional ICT research collaboration will be put forward.
In parallel, the Conference intends to provide input for existing and future calls such as FP7 ICT Work Programme calls and the Joint Call in the context of the South East European ERA.Net PLUS project.

The Conference is co-organised by SCORE and WBC-INCO.NET (Coordination of research policies with the Western Balkan countries) with the support of the European Commission and hosted by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. It will be held on December  11-12, 2008, in Belgrade, at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (Resavska 15, room 1, 11000 Belgrade, Serbia)

Around 150 participants are expected to participate in the Conference. In addition to Western Balkan ICT stakeholders, ICT experts and researchers from neighbouring and other EU countries (e.g. Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey) will attend, as well as European Commission officials.
