News archive - EC Website Presents Selected FP6 Success Stories

A new European Commission website (http://ec.europa.eu/research/research-for-europe/index_en.html) presents a selection of FP6 success stories.

The projects presented give a good overall picture over the various research projects funded under FP6, implemented by researchers working in locations as diverse as the frozen wastes of the Arctic, the depths of the oceans and the windswept deserts of central Asia, as well as many more who work in the more traditional setting of the laboratory. They work in disciplines ranging from chemistry to the economy (and many, many more) and come from every corner of the EU and beyond.

The projects presented on the website are not only creating new knowledge and solutions to existing problems, but also contain measures to train scientists and laying the foundations for scientific networks which will bridge the gaps between researchers and between institutions and that will endure long after their work has been completed. Many also involve the building of global links involving researchers from all over the world.

Looking even further, FP6 gives added value to European research. Through the projects it supported, was designed to establish the building blocks of a single European Research Area (ERA) and contributed directly to what has become known as the ‘Lisbon Strategy for growth and jobs’.
