News archive - [Event Announcement] WIRES - Womens' International Research Engineering Summit

WIRES is primarily an international summit for women who are interested in pursuing collaborative research­ing opportunities. Deadline for registration: March 15, 2012.

The main objective of the annual summits is to enable meaningful and sustainable research exchanges between female engineers from around the world while identifying issues faced by females pursuing careers in engineering that could benefit from a global strategy. The long-term goal of WIRES is to function as a global multi-stakeholder partnership for sustaining women in technology. 

The summit desires to bring together 200 participants: 60 from US & Canada, 70 from Europe, 20 from Africa, 20 from Asia Pacific, 20 from Latin-America and 10 from other countries.

The priority themes for WIRES 2012 are:

  • Information technology/computer engineering topic ( e.g. enhanced virtual reality, more secure cyberspace for children)
  • Engineered solutions to restore, improve and make urban infrastructure resilient and sustainable
  • Engineered solutions to provide sustainable energy for everyone

The target group for WIRES 2012:

  • · Post Doctoral Fellows
  • · Researchers from Industry
  • · Program Directors from Funding Agencies
