News archive - South East European Political Directors Meet in Podgorica

The first meeting of political directors of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) under the Montenegrin Chairmanship-in-Office, held in Podgorica on September 10, discussed the priorities of the Chairmanship and the situation in the region.

The event was chaired by Deputy Montenegrin Foreign Minister Nebojsa Kaludjerovic, who presented the programme and the calendar of activities of his country’s SEECP Chairmanship.

The political directors welcomed the progress made by the countries of South East Europe in European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and stressed the significance of yesterday’s UN General Assembly’s resolution on Kosovo for the continuation of a dialogue in the region.

“The positive political climate in the region must translate into concrete regional cooperation projects to the benefit of all the people in South East Europe and the region’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration”, said RCC Secretary General Hido Biscevic, while taking part in the event.

The Montenegrin SEECP priorities focus on regional economic recovery and development efforts. The participants particularly highlighted the importance of a stronger cooperation in building regional energy and transport infrastructure.

Montenegro took over the rotating Chairmanship-in-Office of the South-East European Cooperation Process at the SEECP Summit in Istanbul in June 2010.
