News archive - Event Review: Balkan Case Challenge 2006

Preparations for the "Balkan Case Challenge" 2007 are already under way, the application period for the finals is exptected to start in the beginning of December 2006 and end on March 1, 2007 - more information is available on the website http://www.bcchallenge.org.
The 2006 event by the World University Service Austria was held in Vienna. This article gives a short review on the outcomes.

BCC 2006 in Vienna was a success as the following benchmarks show:

  • 800 applications received
  • 145 participants
  • 34 awarded winners
  • 40 partner institutions
  • 30 companies present at the newly introduced "Job Fair / Career Day"

Many companies used the chance to look for high potentials at the event. The OMV, a case sponser for the Business Case Competition, chose a case topic, or more precisely a direct question, of high relevance to the company and the students from South East Europe: "What would be the best way to impress and hire high potentials in South Eastern Europe and how should the recruitment at the universities be done?"

Another result of one of the events - "Model United Nations" - was a "Visa Liberalization Resolution", especially calling for initiatives for visa liberalization with the Western Balkan countries and for further cooperation with the region in the areas of research and education and youth mobility.
