News archive - Forest-Based Sector Technology Platform publishes 11th. newsletter

The latest issue of FTP-Update, the electronic newsletter of the Forest-Based Sector Technology Platform (FTP), is now available. It provides a wealth of information about the FTP, research and development, meetings, and other issues.

News items include, for example, information about changes in FTP Management, including the appointment of a new Director. Moreover, a recent evaluation of the European Technology Platforms by the European Commission is summarised. In the Research and Development section, information is offered about the latest calls of the 7th Framework Programme (FP7).

The Meetings and Events section announces, among other, a new brokerage event for those interested in preparing forest-based sector proposals under the 'NMP' theme of FP7. Information is also given about a series of other upcoming events and conferences, including the FTP's own conference in Stockholm, Sweden.

New report reviews what Europeans think of wood

The report "Europeans and Wood: What do Europeans Think about Wood and its Uses? A review of Consumer and Business Surveys in Europe" by Ewald Rametsteiner, Roland Oberwimmer and Ingwald Gschwandtl, has recently been published by the MCPFE (Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe - former Liason Unit Warsaw) and the UN-FAO/ECE Forest Communicators Network (FCN). Together with the report "Europeans and their Forests" published by the MCPFE and the FCN in 2003, it constitutes the most comprehensive insight into public perceptions as regards forests and forest-based products.
