News archive - Event Review: "European Forum on Research and Development Impact Assessment"

On February 24-25, 2009, the European Forum on Research and Development Impact Assessment - EUFORDIA - took place in Prague  in frame of the Czech EU presidency.

The aim of EUFORDIA was to provide a discussion platform to the EU member states for assessment of national and European impacts of Framework programmes and to share examples of good practise in ex-post evaluation and their subsequent use by policy makers.

The presentations and conclusions of the Forum are now available online...

Acknowledging the progress made by the European Commission in terms of FP evaluation, the Forum's participants emphasised the importance of robust data on the FPs in terms of participation and results as a foundation for any evaluation. It therefor invited the European Commission to establish an openly accessible database of project results.

Member States were also encouraged to further strengthen their collaboration by exchanging "good practices" with a view to increase comparability and compatibility between the evaluations of national R&D programmes. Furthermore, participants emphasised the need to look more closely at the relationship between the Framework Programmes and the Structural Funds.
