News archive - [Event Announcement] 2nd Open Seminar of "Focus-Balkan" on consumer food science in WBC

On the September 23, 2011, the 2nd Open Seminar of Focus-Balkans will take place in Brussels. Participants will be members of the consortium as well as invitees coming from the Universities and Ministries important for the topic in 6 Balkan countries: Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro and Macedonia.

FOCUS-BALKANS is a small collaborative project financed by the 7th Framework Program FP7. The general objective of the project is to improve competencies and understanding in the field of consumer food science in the Western Balkan countries (WBC). The scientific results of the research will make important contribution to the public health and consumer protection and to the achievement of the objectives within the Framework Program 7.

The first Open Seminar in Belgrade in October 2010 focused on the results of the quantitative survey done by IPSOS Strategic Puls on 3000 consumers of the Balkans. On Friday, September 23 2011, results and key-findings about traditional food and organic products consumption in the WBC will be presented and discussed with specialists in order to disseminate recommendations and raise awareness about food consumption patterns in the region.
